Sous Vide Pork Belly

So, I went to the asian market for sake and the pork belly looked good I had to buy it. Then I needed a recipe and found this one on izzycooking.com. Followed it exactly, it was amazing, 10/10 will do again. And, it's very little work. I served it over white rice and with steamed broccoli.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb pork belly
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • salt to taste

Directions

  1. On the night before, mix the honey, garlic and soy. Vacuum bag the pork bellies with the sauce and leave it in the fridge.
  2. put the pork bellies in the sous vide machine in the morning - 170 F for about 10 hours
  3. pull the pork bellies out, leave the juices in the bag, pat the pork bellies dry with paper towels. Cut the pork bellies into cubes.
  4. put the vegetable oil in a frying pan and get it good and hot, then put the pork belly cubes in the oil, skin side down.
  5. once the skin is caramelized, turn them and pour about 1/4 cup of the juices into the pan. Keep turning the pork bellies to brown/caramelize all sides while reducing the sauce.
  6. put the pork bellies in a serving dish and sprinkle with the green onions and sesame seeds
